Introduction Of New Material For PVC Sheet Piles

As a new type of foundation pit support material, PVC sheet piles have the advantages of lightweight, high strength, low price, and corrosion resistance. They have great application prospects and are expected to replace traditional wood, concrete, and steel materials. Many developed countries around the world have carried out research and application of such products. my country's research in this area is still in its infancy.

In this paper, aiming at engineering application, the mechanical properties of the prepared PVC sheet piles during the aging process were studied, and their long-term outdoor use reliability was evaluated. The service life of PVC sheet piles can be improved by measures such as UV-resistant aging modification and structural design optimization.

The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:

(1) The mechanical properties of PVC sheet piles under thermal-oxidative aging and ultraviolet aging were studied.

The experimental results show that the mechanical strength and modulus of PVC sheet piles can remain stable for a long time during the aging process, and aging has a great influence on the toughness of PVC. The increase in thickness can significantly improve the aging resistance of sheet piles. Taking a 7mm thick sheet pile as the experimental object, according to the Arrhenius equation, when the elongation at break is 5% at room temperature, the service life of the sheet pile is 21.70 years, and the notched impact strength is reduced to 2KJ/m2 The service life of sheet piles is 5.43 years at the time of failure. According to the equivalent calculation of indoor and outdoor ultraviolet radiation energy, when the elongation at break is 5% as the failure point, the service life of the sheet pile is 3.51 years, and when the notched impact strength is reduced to 2KJ/m2 as the failure, the service life of the sheet pile is 17.50 years. It shows that the PVC sheet pile can meet the requirements of long-term outdoor use.

(2) Modified for the UV aging resistance of PVC.

The effect of etorillin UV absorber was evaluated by blending modification, and the effect of water-based aliphatic polyurethane coated with UV-resistant coating on the UV aging performance of PVC sheet piles was explored. The experimental results show that the addition of erythromycin can effectively improve the anti-ultraviolet aging performance of PVC. The water-based aliphatic polyurethane coating can promote the UV aging of PVC and is not suitable for the protection of PVC sheet piles.

(3) Based on the data of modified PVC sheet piles, the sheet pile structure was optimized by ANSYS finite element software, and the stress and strain of sheet piles under different working conditions were studied. The calculation results show that the minimum stress when the top is riveted is 6.82MPa and the minimum strain is 18.44mm. After PVC modification, the deformation is reduced by 16.6%.
